The Betty West Story

What started as a simple desire to sew clothes for my daughter quickly grew into a passion for transforming forgotten textiles into something new. As my skills grew, so did my love for finding beauty and possibility in materials that others had discarded.

Nearly everything I create begins with a secondhand story—thrifted fabric, donated linens, vintage garments, estate sale finds, or textiles that were once tucked away and forgotten. I give these pieces a second life by turning them into one-of-a-kind clothing, with a little history woven into every stitch.

The name Betty West is a tribute to my two grandmothers, bringing together parts of each of them to create something entirely new. It reflects the heart of this brand: honoring the stories, craftsmanship, and beauty of the past while thoughtfully reimagining them for the future.

Meet Carlyn- The Maker Behind Betty West

I didn't grow up sewing—I learned as an adult with FaceTime guidance from my mom and sister, and plenty of trial and error along the way! Today, I create one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories from thrifted and vintage textiles, giving forgotten fabrics a second life. Every piece is thoughtfully designed and sewn by hand in Massachusetts with a love for craftsmanship, sustainability, and timeless style.
